Reports To: Fraud Prevention Supervisor
Compensation: $32–$33 per hour
Schedule: Wednesday through Friday onsite, Saturday and Sunday remote.
Location: Pleasanton, CA (Onsite)
About The Role Vagaro is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Risk Analyst to join our growing Vagaro Merchant Services (VMS) team. The digital fraud landscape is evolving rapidly, and we’re committed to protecting our merchants by identifying and mitigating risks before they impact business operations. In this role, you will analyze suspicious transaction activity, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to execute our Global Anti-Fraud strategy and strengthen fraud prevention processes across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Monitoring, Fraud Prevention, Risk, and Compliance - Monitor daily transaction activity to identify unusual patterns or potential fraud
- Investigate suspected or confirmed fraud cases and recommend appropriate actions
- Perform KYC and compliance reviews as needed to support merchant onboarding
- Research and validate businesses to assess risk level and eligibility
- Use fraud detection tools such as Plaid, EverC, and Cybersource to support investigations
- Stay informed on emerging fraud trends, risk indicators, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of fraud, risk, and compliance practices with business goals
Customer and Team Support - Respond to merchant inquiries via phone, email, or chat with accuracy and professionalism
- Assist internal departments with fraud-related questions, transaction reviews, and risk mitigation
- Provide clear communication and recommendations to support balanced merchant experiences and company risk controls
- Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications - Experience in fraud prevention, risk analysis, or merchant processing
- Knowledge of compliance areas such as AML, PCI DSS, and card network regulations
- Familiarity with risk tools such as Plaid, EverC, and Cybersource
- Background in payment processing, chargebacks, or fintech environments
- Experience supporting e-commerce or high-risk merchant industries
