We are a fast-growing U.S.-based mortgage company providing Non-QM and traditional loan solutions nationwide. Our team is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter with strong decision-making skills, leadership capability, and advanced knowledge of Non-QM loan products.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced lending environment, can work independently, and consistently delivers accurate, compliant underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform thorough credit, income, asset, collateral, and risk assessments for Non-QM, DSCR, Bank Statement, and other alternative doc types.

· Ensure all files meet investor guidelines, federal regulations, and internal credit standards.

· Review AUS findings and apply appropriate conditions, overlays, and exceptions.

· Issue clear, accurate underwriting decisions: approve, deny, or suspend with conditions.

· Collaborate with processors, loan officers, and managers to resolve conditions efficiently.

· Train and support junior underwriters when needed; be able to manage underwriting team.

· Maintain excellent turn times while ensuring high-quality, compliant underwriting.

· Participate in policy reviews, credit audits, and underwriting guideline updates.

Required Qualifications

· 7+ years of current U.S. mortgage underwriting experience (required).

· Non-QM underwriting experience REQUIRED — including DSCR, Bank Statement, WVOE, P&L

· Prior experience evaluating complex income scenarios and self-employed borrowers.

· Strong familiarity with U.S. lending regulations (TRID, ATR/QM, Fair Lending, etc.).

· Proficient with Encompass is a plus

· Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

· Ability to make independent decisions with minimal supervision.

· Comfortable working in a fully remote environment with strict loan-level security protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior leadership or team-lead experience (Underwriting Team Lead, Supervisor, or Senior).

· Experience in hybrid/remote U.S. mortgage operations.

· Familiarity with non-agency investors and their requirements.

· Remote: Available

· Schedule: Must maintain partial overlap with U.S. business hours.
