Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain Operations

Position Summary

The Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain Operations, will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of logistics, transportation, and inventory functions within a global flavor manufacturing organization. This position will lead a team of five professionals supporting import and export operations, third-party logistics coordination, customer service, and compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations. The role requires a results-driven leader with strong analytical capabilities and demonstrated experience managing complex supply chain networks in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics and Transportation Management

  • Direct and manage all inbound and outbound freight activities, including coordination with third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and domestic and international carriers.
  • Oversee import and export documentation, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain carrier and vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, reliability, and service excellence.
  • Evaluate and negotiate freight contracts to achieve cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.

Supply Chain and Inventory Control

  • Manage the flow of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Production, and Planning teams to forecast demand, balance inventory levels, and optimize supply chain performance.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, logistics costs, and delivery performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Customer Service and Order Fulfillment

  • Supervise the Customer Service function to ensure timely and accurate order processing, proactive communication with customers, and efficient resolution of delivery or logistics issues.
  • Maintain strong alignment between logistics and customer service to ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) and customer expectations.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide leadership, direction, and professional development for a team of five employees across logistics, inventory, and customer service functions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Finance, Production, and Sales to ensure alignment of supply chain objectives with overall business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations within a manufacturing environment; experience in food ingredients, flavors, or chemicals strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing international logistics, including import/export compliance and documentation.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and inventory management tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with demonstrated success in managing and developing teams.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
